Hatters first game back in the second tier to be televised

Luton will kick off their Championship season at home against fellow relegated side Burnley, with the game broadcast live on Sky Sports on Monday, August 12 at 8pm.

The Clarets finished second bottom in the Premier League last term, one place below the Hatters, and are currently without a manager after Vincent Kompany left to take over German giants Bayern Munich. Town's opening away game sees them head to newly-promoted side Portsmouth on Saturday, August 17, before they then go to Preston North End on Saturday, August 24, Rob Edwards’ team ending their opening month at home to Queens Park Ranger on Saturday, August 31.

Some other key matches for Town fans to look out for see Luton entertaining fierce rivals Watford on Saturday, October 19, with the reverse fixture at Vicarage Road on Saturday, February 22. Despite the Football League trying to minimise travelling for clubs around Christmas as well, the Hatters face two trips totalling 680-miles in total, as they head to Bristol City on Boxing Day and then travel to Swansea City on Sunday, December 29. Luton are back in Bedfordshire on New Year’s Day though, entertaining Norwich City, before they head out on the road once more on Saturday, January 4 as they visit QPR.

Town have been given some lengthy midweek games as well throughout the campaign, travelling to Leeds United in November, Oxford United in January, Sunderland in February, Cardiff City in March and Stoke City in April. Over Easter, Edwards will take his side to Derby County on Good Friday and then host Bristol City on Easter Monday. Luton end their home campaign against Coventry City on Saturday, April 26, as the campaign comes to a conclusion at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, May 3.
